How vulnerable are you with your suppliers?
Within the EU your suppliers cannot sell to you if they have not pre-registered their chemicals under REACH. It may be that due to the cost of registration your supplier either decides it is not economic to register what you buy or does not know why you use their product.
Get REACH cosy with your suppliers
This means you must check your suppliers are going to register your usage and purpose, as if they fail to do so they can no longer supply to you.
As a result it is in your interest to make sure your supplier registers your usage and purpose.
If you receive a REACH questionnaire from a supplier then you are best answering because if you don’t then you will have to regsiter the chemical at your own cost.
How vulnerable are you with your customers?
The flip side is if your customers decide that registration is too expensive they may decide that stocking your products is no longer viable.
Where does this leave you?
In addition your role is now reversed in that you need to gather information from your customer base as to what they use your products for so you can register them under REACH.
If you do not do this you will no longer be able to sell to them.
The overriding thing you must do is understand how you are vulnerable within your supply chain.
